Re: Where Is It?
This doesn't look like Detroit to me. Are those UPS logos on some of those white trailers to left of the picture?

That shot above of Inman Yard of the NS RR (former Southern Railway yard) is looking southeast toward downtown Atlanta, GA.

Yes that is a pretty bumpy crossing. I was told that that place rebuilds electrical transformers?

Re: Where Is It?
I never have had time to look. I'm more concerned about the road conditions through there.80mac wrote:Yes that is a pretty bumpy crossing. I was told that that place rebuilds electrical transformers?
A google search shows it's Materials Processing, Inc. It seems this facility does industrial type painting.
The way I read it, transformer rebuilding might be something going on there.
This is on West Jefferson just north of (toll) Bridge Rd. in Riverview.

Re: Where Is It?
Y es, indeed, it's Materials Processing, Inc on the west side of West Jefferson , just north of (toll) Bridge Road in Riverview, Wayne Counrty. The spur ine is off the connection with the exDT&I RR. The (toll) Bridge Road run over the toll bridge over the Detroit River West channel to Grosse Ile. West Jefferson Road in the foreground of the above shot.DaveO wrote:I never have had time to look. Re: Where Is It?
Another one that I feel I should know. I'll try the Detroit Industrial Beltline.

Re: Where Is It?
MPI use to make fuel tanks for Ford until Ford changed over to plastic type tanks, then MPI was a warehouse for aluminum ingots. Plant switched by both CN and Conrail. Has 3 doors but only 2 now in service.

You got it Avnx. It looks like this is all that is left of the Notre Dame branch.

Re: Where Is It?
Yes, indeed, it's the former Notre Dame branch that ran between the connection with the NS/Amtrak Line, just three blocks east oif the Nile Amtrak depot, and the connection with the former Big Four Route , later old NYC System RR,Penn Central, Conrail, that ran between Benton Harbor, MI and South Bend, IN.That shot above is looking south along north 9th Street, south of Howard Street, all in Niles, Berrien County. The NS/Amtrak Line goes over the overpass over both ex Big Four Route line and the St. Joe River, just a half a mile west of the Niles Amtrak depot.Michael wrote:Avnx wrote:Sort of looks like 9th Street in Niles, Michigan.Michael wrote:It's not Tecumseh or the Detroit Industrial Beltline

Also, Michael, you posted a shot of the overpass over the abandoned ROW a while back. I already guessed that shot M-66 over the former NYC RR ROW between Jackson and Three Rivers, just north of the jog with M-86 west of Colon and south of Battle creek.
