Railfan gift.
A friend of mine recently gave me a section of rail from the Grand Rapids Holland and Chicago. It was pretty rusty and had been spray painted with silver paint so I took it and had it sandblasted and I must say it came out pretty good. What is really cool about this section of rail is that it has all the builder information on it.

Re: Railfan gift.
What does it weigh?
Re: Railfan gift.
I'm not exactly sure I didn't weigh it but I can tell you it's heavy as hell. I think that it's 60 or maybe 75 pound rail and the section I have is 3'7" long.
I do have a scale but it only weighs out grams and ounces. lol

Re: Railfan gift.
Stand on a standard scale without and with the rail. The difference is its weight.
It looks beautiful!

As long as your barrow has wheels on it you should be ok.

Re: Railfan gift.
Since my last post I sprayed clear coat on the rail to protect it from rust which made it a little bit darker in color. It is now in it's final resting place waiting for a display table. Above the rail is a picture of the Grand Rapids Holland and Chicago interurban car that rolled over this very piece of rail.
