Those sure look like CN's maintenance vehicles (NS seems to have all white work trucks)...where would CN crews be doing work on NS...?

It looks like it could be on the Shoreline Sub (er...the NS line that parallels the Shoreline Sub), north of Monroe.

There are two crossings nearby at this location...bonus points if you can name which crossing was closed a few months ago.

There are clues in the picture that suggest it could be on the Grand Elk, but I'm not sure where yet.
Funny if you zoom in on the insignia on the front of the leading loco, it turns out to be a red broom and a shovel.

Indeed. I presume the crews used them to clear the switches during the winter.

Also, it is indeed Grand Elk.

Indeed, That shot was taken from Mentel Road, looking north along the CN Shoreline Sub, toward the next crossing Nadeau Road, in Frenchtown Township, Monroe County. Five miles northeast of Monroe. Just east of I-75.

Bingo! I was on the trail that leads to Celery Flats when I took that picture. Train would’ve been blowing for Garden Lane, and Romence is just behind it and was indeed closed this past summer for crossing work.

Yes, indeed, its the GDLK RR freight train approaching Garden Lane with Romence Road behind it, looking north.in Portage (south of Kalamazoo),Portage Public Schools, Kalamazoo County. That trackage was the former LSMS RR that run between Elkhart, IN and Grand Rapids.

Not the line to Greenville. Where it ended a short way from here wasn't really anywhere. Just a few tracks and a scale in the woods.
