Typo Contest?

Unread post by 59caddy »

I"m sure we've all seen typos. They always have the quality to embarrass, especially when circulated on the internet. Take these for example: http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/gallery ... 79&index=0

So, I am proposing a contest to see who can, after a period of time, submit the highest number of typos to me. In this idea, you get points for all of your typos. In this competition, one typo earns the contestant one point. If a contestant gives a single submission with multiple typos within it, they get one point per typo.

Here are the proposed submission options:

1. Send a photo to me:
-You can PM it to me, put it on the contest thread, or somehow let me see it.
-It MUST be your photo.
2. Send me a link to a website:
-PM me the URL or put it on the contest thread.
-Give a simple description of the location of the typo

Valid places to find a typo:

-- Advertisements, brochures, or any other marketing material
-- Corporate websites
-- Corporate signs
-- Books
-- Newspapers and news websites

Invalid places to find a typo:

-- Social media, blog, or comments-section posts (so no typos from Railroadfan  )
-- Photo or video titles, captions, or descriptions on photo- or video-sharing sites
-- Signs with interchangeable letters

One more thing:
A typo here is defined as an error in grammar, punctuation, or spelling, not incorrect information.

Please feel free to cast your vote and give any feedback to rules, typo locations, etc in posts on this thread. :)

Move it to the model railroad forum and call it a Tyco contest.

I see grammatical errors all the time in public. But are they typos or done out of ignorance?

For instance, I don't consider this a typo. I took this photo at a local gas station:

Image

Another one I took in front of a florist down the street. Again, not a typo, but pure grammatical ignorance:

About 23 years ago, on a radio station where they were reading typos from newspapers, my favorite one was "Pilot Ejaculates Safely from his Crashing Jet"........  Hmmmmmmmm. It was taken from an english language newspaper in Korea. This was way before the computer/Website era. I never forgot that one!

Another entry from me. This label is on 16 pumps at the Family Fare gas station on the corner of 28th and Burlingame in Wyoming.

Swipe my license where?
