If you're referring to the thread about gas prices being high, and its impact on railfaning, yes, it needed to be locked. Discussions about health care and all sorts of other political agenda just isn't allowed here. I wrote a little about it in the FAQ's here: faq.php
Sure, people weren't directly fighting, but as we've learned in the past from our P/R/E section, it just doesn't belong here.

Politics
I must agree with Zack's locking the thread. There is no room for politics that are not railroad related.
One of the aviation forums I USED to participate in opened s similar forum and I watched former friends become bitter enemies because of political differences.
Please. all, let's keep this a true railroad forum. Politics, as railroad related, will enter the discussion from time to time, but in that situation it may be related to something like funding for Amtrak.
Said with respect for all,

Re: Politics
It is a shame that the thread itself wasn't saved. To hockysticks with the politics ... talking about how people have adjusted their railfanning due to the economy should be possible without people trashing the thread.

Sorry KC. My bad. Nice picture of the GLC train thoughKC wrote:I thought I started it.......then you evil twisted political types went and got it locked.....
I meant to also tell you I enjoyed your pictures of the recent Gaylord area activity. I looks like Superior is getting a fair share of sand. Halliburton would receive around 90ish cars a year. I have wondered if Superior would get that many or not
Something else I noticed is quite a few of the tank cars received in Gaylord have the hand rails on top of the cars like those big LPG tank cars but i am pretty sure the ones in gaylord are just 50's or 54's.
I just hijacked a politics thread with railroad stuff

I hate to say this, but politics pervades life. And I completely agree that it should be kept off this forum, period. But, for the unofficial record, I agree 100% with AARR, as that is my political leaning (can't talk me out of it), but also have a very newly found respect for Dok, largely due to the way in which he delivered his views. Just goes to show the character of the people here. As Dok would say, "'Nuff Said."

Great pics as always KC. I'd love to chase lately if I could, gas prices don't bother me as I have no control but I wish that I just had the time! Plus, if the Wifey shared the same interest it would make it that much better...(she likes girly-girl stuff......how very odd....)
