Is it possible to set it up that you can view a persons gallery as a slide show rather than having to open each picture individually?
Most certainly! It's actually already setup that way. Follow this link to see your CP in Ontario gallery in slideshow format:

If you are looking at one of the pictures in the gallery, along the top of the photo, there is what looks like a rectangle with a blue angled line above it. Click on that, and it will show you a slideshow, going between pics every 3 seconds. I can change that value if anyone wants it slow/faster. As you can see in that URL i gave you, you can change that "3000" to like "5000" to mean 5 seconds.
