GP40's Day In North America

Unread post by RailCanon »

Well, it was really rainy yesterday, and decided to forget about DINA, but I still went out to look for trains anyway.
While listening to the scanner, I heard D709 departing Lansing, and that they had CSXT 6048...."HEY Thats a GP40-2!! I never see those!" So I went out to see if I could get a shot of him.
Here is, with his 11 car train, coming up the hill at Harrison Road:

Since I was already out there to get 709, I decided to stick around to see what else would come by.
Didn't have to wait that long:
First up is this 114 car coal train for Detroit Edison in Monroe. BNSF SD70MACs 9470 and 9472 provide the power:

Followed shortly by Westbound #281, with GT 5941 on the point:

The lights are dimmed because he is about to meet a stopped eastbound at the diamonds.
Ten minutes later, 149 comes around the Corner and into town behind A CN SD70I/SD40-2W and a UP SD40-2:

After 149 passed, the eastbound at the diamonds got the signal to go east. CN 2687 and 5787 haul it past the station:

I waited around for a while after this, but nothing came by, so I went home.

Pretty productive for just two hours time.

Hope you all enjoyed.

No plant in Holly, just a bunch of old building, a pond, and some tracks.

Fixed it so it says Monroe. I've been told by several people that it was Holly, so I assumed that's where it was going to.

That 149 you saw I got most of the same power on 148 on Friday Dec 30th.
148 had the
CN 5620 - UP 3239 - CN 5620 with 96 cars heading eastbound through Brantford at 13:28.
the 2687 also showed up that day as the lead unit on CN 331
CN 2687 - CN 2690 - CN 5705 with 100 cars heading westbound through Brantford at 11:40
