12-23-05

Called for Q28922, at 05:15 with BNSF 7316, for 69 empties, and 3656 tons, and 6586 feet. We got on board the train, at 06:55, and waited to get a air test.

As we were sitting around, we see the following. First was a yard job, milling around moving power, to the east end of the yard, with CSXT 2795, FURX 3001, & HLCX 8154. Then at 08:15, we see the Y31422 with CSXT 8050 & CEFX 3128, heading towards Union St. Well at this time we cant get the marker to arm, so we pull down to Union St., in hopes of moving the EOT to the top of the hump for a better signal.

On the way up to Union St. we pass the Y 11623, with a CSXT SD50, RLCX 8517, and CSXT ??90 (GP38-2). As we sit trying to arm the marker, and do our air test, we see K59822, pull up on the main, change crews and depart. He had the CSXT 7667 & HLCX 6241, with 83 cars, at 08:45. Well we now have our air test done, and have to wait for more traffic to clear. Next is the Y12423, with CSXT 2517, doubling up 16 cars out of the car shop, to shove down the inbound, at 09:00.

Next as we cool our heals, is the Y30122, coming back in from the AA, with CSXT 2328 & 6421, with 12 mixed, and 48 autoracks, at 09:25. Then at 09:40, we wait for the Y31422, to come back into the yard, after turning the power, and as he clears the signals, the yardmaster says they changed there mind, and he needs to go back out, and down the mains, to yard D to put it on a train. And finally the Y11623, with CSXT 8635, FURX 3041, & CSXT 8312, to head out and turn more power, for a outbound train, at 09:55. We finally depart, at 10:10.

At Union St., we see Q20023, waiting to put there power away after we clear, with CSXT 8102, 4823, 7638, & NS 8747. We arrive at Vickers at 10:24, and see a eastbound internodal, with NS 9237 & 9550, with 97 loads, and 3 empties (long count), with 96 containers, and 32 trailers.
We depart at 10:28, (aperently since CSX wasn't going to give us Christmas off, the NS decided to be nice and not make us wait for a long time). At Pickel Rd., we pass the Q24522, at 10:38, with CSXT 7658 & 9015, with 86 autoracks.

At Consaul St. we pass the Q33423, with HLCX 6207, with 38 cars, at 10:48. As we cruse across the diamond at Ironville, off to the right waiting for us to cross, is a NS train with 6557, leading. At 10:54, as we pass by the docks, we see the following, K18522, with CSXT 476 & HLCX 9006, waiting to leave with 125 cars. And also the Y12223, with CSXT 2576, 4 cars, and CSXT 904??? (OL bay window cab), waiting to head out and do some work. At 11:06, we pass the AA yard and 7802, is out switching, also in the Boullvard yard, we see the Y12123, with CSXT 2771, 10 cars, and CSXT 900055, waiting to make a transfer to the AA.

At 12:14, we pass the first of three 321's, from Flint (remember Saginaw, is not profitable any more). It is the S32123, with HLCX 6250 & UP 4925, with 124 cars. We arrive at New Boston, at 12:50, to make our set off. At 12:58, we are passed by the Q39923, with CSXT 7852 & 4726, with 137 cars, at Eureka Rd. We set off 66 empties, for 3497 tons, and 6299 feet. We depart, at 13:42, with 4 empties, for 212 tons, and 371 feet.

At Van Borne Rd., we pass the K59822, stopped waiting to work Wayne Industries, at 13:52. At Lilley Rd., we overtake the S39223, with HLCX 6600 & 6502, with 84 cars, at 14:10. Then at 14:30, at Novi, we pass the Q32123, with UP 5147 & HLCX 6510, with 98 cars, and arrive at Wixom, at 14:42. Because of the fact that PTI has taken over the crew hauling of CN now down in the Detroit area, we have to wait for Q22423, who goes on duty, at 16:30, to come up before we can leave. We finally depart for the hotel at 18:45, and off duty at 19:40.

12-24-05

After spending 19 hours in the hotel the call that we weren't expecting came, for the Q22424, at 14:30, deadhead to Plymouth, to pick up the power, and head to Wayne to get the train. We leave the hotel, at 14:30, and arrive at Plymouth, at 15:30. We have the CSXT 8554 & 8619. While looking over the locos, I see that they need to be turned, account the 8619, has the front sanders cut out, so turn them and haul it dead in tow. Well I head into the crew room, and tell the conductor, about it , and low and behold, unknown to me the FRA man is sitting in the corner, and says that I cant take that loco, not even dead in tow. So we go out turn the locos, and set the 8619, back into the yard. But after we cut away from the 8619, the 8554, keeps dying every time I put it on line. Well after letting the loco guy look at it, he pronounces it dead. As I come back out to the loco to tell the conductor, he says it that supposed to be like that, and I said NO. So after fixing it, we are on our way, and depart Plymouth, at 17:40.

We pass the Q39224, at Lilley Rd., at 17:50, with CSXT 5224, 5225, 7539, & HLCX 9035, with 85 cars. We arrive at Wayne, at 18:10, and make our pick up. At 18:40, we are passed by the Q21624, at Glenwood, with UP 6751 & 7170, with 62 cars. We depart Wayne, at 18:50, with 16 loads, 8 empties, for 1592 tons, and 2256 feet. At Eureka Rd., we pass the Q27223, at 19:25, with CSXT 7627 & UP 9059, with 5 platforms, with 8 containers, and 50 autoracks, to set off. At Sibley Rd., we pass back the Q21624, who has now ran down #1 tack and shoved back to #2 in order to make there pick up. At Stoney Creek, we pass the Q28724, with CSXT 7666 & 5502, with 64 autoracks. And finally we pass the Q30424, at Monroe, at 20:25, with CSXT 7851 & GEFX 3064, with 66 cars. We arrive, at Walbridge, at 21:40.
