My Fostoria Trip

Well I am not going to have a "Fostoria Trip" section in my album, so here are thumbnails to it. They will just be dumped into the appropate CSX or NS files. This will be a work in progress as I get notes and such updated. If you want to see bigger versions go to my archive, sd70accsxt700.

9-29-05 Thursday

24Z with NS 2628, 6074 & 9789, eastbound at Vickers at 10:30

First up after arriving in town, is Q39429, with CSXT 8036, GCFX 3073, CSXT 515, & 6279, heading east, at 13:00. Following this train into town, is where Zack got his first taste of "really" chasing a train, as he tried to keep up.

Second one of the day was the Q24228, at 13:05, with ex-BN HLCX 7183 & CSXT 8030, eastbound.

Well a couple of minnuets later we had our first NS train of the day, and it turned out to be a double banger, with NS L7??, with NS 3324, & ????, with NS 6752 & 6410, both westbound.

Next was NS Roadrailer 2?? with NS 6603, westbound, and even the sun wins sometimes, at 13:30

Next the H79529, with this old autorack came through town.

At 14:16 we had the westbound Q38927, with CSXT 7376, 7540, & 2516.

Then at 14:24, CSXT 8451 & 8880, came eastbound(south on the C&O), and turned westbound on the B&O.

Then a empty DEEX coal train came eastbound(south on the C&O) with CSXT 273 & 55, at 14:40.

Then we had another westboound NS on #2 track, at 14:44, with NS 8838 & CEFX 7111.

Next at 14:55, we had a UP unit #4256 & 9100, followed by the CSXT 4452. Who are those two guys who keep showing up in my pictures?

Then we have Q39327 with GCFX 3069, and CSXT 8040 westbound at 15:08

Then comes my favorate train direct from Saginaw, MI, its Q29628, with CSXT 68, 8484, & 2509, getting ready to turn east for Cumberland, MD and other points. Time is now 15:12.

Then came the NS 306, heading east with NS 9855 & 9757 at 15:18.

Next is the NS 265, at 16:50, with NS 9512 & 6733, westbound past the pink house.

Next at 17:10, we have CSXT 7522 & 7887, on Q24328, as they head west.

At 17:22, we had our next NS move, westbound at the C&O diamonds, with NS 9344 & UP 4519.

Then we had the Q15129, at 18:00, seen north of F Tower, passing the old C&O depot, with CSXT 8867 & CEFX 3128. The last picture is a little washed out, so lets experment.

As the sunlight begins to fade, we have the Q37829, pass the B&O depot, at 19:43.

And as the sun is setting, at 19:58, the Q34028, with CN 2693 leading, comes past heading east.

Now that the sun is set, we do some night time exposers, and the first contestant it the Q11829, at 20:30.

Next up at 21:30, is the Q13029, with CSXT 7305, 8778, & HLCX 7195, passing the B&O depot.

The next one at 21:32, to expose him self to film, is Q20029, as it gets ready to turn north and head for Walbridge.

The night time trains keep rolling, with one at 21:45, the Q13728.

And now for our only night time NS train, the L7??, eastbound at 22:07.

9-30-05 Friday

First picture of the day is a CSXT Eastbound, just comming onto stright rail, just past F Tower, at 7:38.

Here we see the first train of the day to pass the B&O depot, it is Q24130, at 7:11 in the morning.

While everyone else was shoting a SD70ACe, on the CSX, I took off down to the elevators, to shoot this eastbound with UP 4163 & GCFX 3088, wating for a signal to proceed.

Then we had the Q394, with CSXT 8646, 7609, & 7807, come eastbound, at 9:02.

Then we have this sequnce of photos showing the NS local L7??, with NS 3322, being overtaken by road train ???, with UP 4163 & GCFX 3088, at 9:15.

Just after the local and road train disappear, we have this Triple Crown Roadrailer, 2??, with NS 6603, eastbound, at 9:26.

We headed out to Tiffin, OH, to see if the NOW was running, and to change the photo opps. Here we see Central Kansas Railway GP7 #701, not in Kansas any more Toto.

Next we headed outside of town to check out the track inspectors, heating #1 track to fix a pull apart.

On the way back to Fostoria, we heard the Q38629, making his way towards town, with CSXT 7852 & 8508, so we headed to the Sandusky River. Seen in the forground is the peanut gallery.

On the way back to Fostoia, we caught the Q16030, with UP 4514 & CSXT 614. Yes that is Patrick gitting back up from off his stomch again.

At 12:45 we have the K816, all the way from Florida, with CSXT 4813 & NS 8889.

Our next intermodal train is the Q14630, with CSXT 7875 & 226, eastbound at 13:20

The UP 9353, CSXT 9003, & UP 9088, lead our next train at 13:30, west bound past the depot, as Wayne Kuhl takes notes in the shade.

Another UP unit, #4478, 9597, & 9743, lead another westbound for Chicago past the depot, on Q38130.

Here we have Q16430, crossing the street, at 13:54, with CSXT 4747 & 4764.

NS local starts it day by leaving Blair yard, around 13:58, with NS 3322 & 2874, heading westbound.

Next right on the heals of the L7??, comes this westbound NS ??? with some intresting loads, that have seen some action over seas, the tanks had UN marking and numbers on them, as they rode on DODX flat cars.

Train Q38129, with BNSF 5051 & 4828, come past the camera, while preparing to make a setoff on the west side of town, at 14:22.

The NS 8741, UP 9503, & NS 8386, come past our position, at the B&O depot, at 14:36. While everyone except, Scott & my self, went running at the sound of the horn, I was to tired to run, and took this shot from my spot on the ground.

At 15:48, we had changed postitions, to see the action now taking place on the C&O, and catch Q29129, with CSXT 8557 & 2647, heading north for Walbridge.

Now the Q15130, is taking the same path as the Q29129, on its way to Walbridge, OH, with CSXT 8400 & 8678, at 16:08.

In this sequence we have the NS 51J, with NS 5420 & 8648, making a 40 car setoff of empty grain, in Blair yard, at 16:26

Q39730, is now passing us at 16:52, with some power for Walbridg, OH.

The last Q296 that I, and mabey any of us would see to orignate, out of Saginaw, MI, Q29629, comes past us with CSXT 8132 & 8522. Oddly both units are from the Seaboard System.

And finally we have the Q15030, with CSXT 8867 & CEFX 3128, at 17:35.

Then at 17:45, we have a westbound NS train lead by NS 8354 & 8726.

Then we have the H79230, with CSXT 6457 & 2230, went north and then backed around the Northwest wye, towards the B&O depot.

As the sun was setting we catch the Q15630, at the NS crossing, with CEFX 3099 & CSXT 7842, at 20:02.

Then at 20:22, the L7??, local with NS 2874 & 3322, heading for Blair yard.

And the last night shot, is of the NS ???, eastbound with UP 4157, 9197, & 8345, at 23:14.

10-1-05 Saturday

Firts train of the morning, is the NS 262, with NS 2512, and folowing Roadrailers, at 7:48.

Shortly after I headed south of town to catch the Q63430, northbound, for town, with CSXT 8446, CEFX 3123, CSXT 2253, & 6480.

After meeting up with Scott, Zack and Patrick, I showed them the B32-7, sitting at the dump, south of town.

Then we had the K38529, turning north with CSXT 8801, HLCX 9026, & CSXT 8650.

East of town at 10:00, we catch the Q39401, with CSXT 8527, 2531, & 6087.

At East Fostoria, we catch the Q16001, with CSXT 4767 & 5104, passing the dead Q22230. Then this taxi driver showed up and started asking us about where he could find this train, liked we worked there.

Next at 10:30, we have UP 4420, 9169, & NS 8614, heading east.

Here we see the "Bosses" again, walking back to our hangout, after photographing the last train, as Patrick gives a big wave.

Then the train of the weekend came past at 11:20, X09230, with CSXT 7856, 7882, 7620, CEFX 3118, CSXT 2699, 2506, 429, 210, FURX 3046, CSXT 7302, 7539, 8072.

Up next was ???, with CSXT 7791 & UP 1848, at 11:36.

As we wait for the next train we see Scott B. up near the southbound signals at the 88 crossover.

Then from the north we have W06228, with CSXT 7037 & 7124, at the 88 crossovers.

Here we have a unidentified westbound CSX intermodal, with CSXT 7636 & 8867, at the B&O depot.

The next NS local L7??, is westbound, with NS 3322.

Here at 15:10, is Q29630, with CSXT 7504 & 7331, eastbond at the 88 crossovers.

At 15:23, we have the Q38330, with lease units RLCX 8515 & 8532, as they pass the B&O depot.

HLCX 6306 & RLCX 8508, is also westbound, only on train Q33901, approaching the B&O depot.

Next at 17:02, is the Q15101, with CSXT 7498 & 7515, heading westbound toward's Walbridge, OH.

The next westbound towards Walbridge, OH, is Q23628, with BNSF 5236 & HLCX 6409, a SD40-2.
Well while everyone else went off somewhere else, I headed over to the B&O yard to catch the H79401, switching.

Unknown to us for sure, but with much speculation, we see RPCX 8322, a old diner, sitting in the B&O yard. H79401, tied on to it at one time, but never did bring it out far enough to get a good photo of it.

At 18:00, the Q16130, comes blasting by me at Columbus Ave., with CSXT 604 & 636.

Well Patrick, Zack, and Pat C. were getting hungry, and I was tired, so we said goodbye for the weekend, and I headed over by Mennel Milling, to do some time exposures, before I left.

Then at 21:00, NS 16K, came to a stop to wait for a signal across the CSX, with BNSF 4990 & 5413, and he left at 21:24.

In the last shot of the trip, a NS westbound, is seen going across the crossing, with NS 9195 & 6766, at 21:30.

A good time was had by all, and we will have to do it again some day.
