Wow. Any idea which of those trains came from or was headed to Michigan?

20N and 31M. The W1M was likely an extra 31M but may not be from Sterling. The 800s could have been a coal train for Monroe, Trenton, or Rouge.

ConrailDetroit is right. If you want to see a tad heavier amount of Detroit traffic, east of Airline Junction would be better. 331, 332, 184, 420, 414, and the counterparts, as well as 288, 11J, 25E, 29G, and etc.
