Ep. 493: Railfanning Green River, Wyoming

Green River, WY - 07 June 2016
Two Hours' Railfanning at Green River

Green River, Wyoming, is 815 miles west of Omaha, Nebraska, and is a rare reprieve from the vast emptiness of the south-central Red desert of Wyoming.

An important divisional point on the Overland Route, the Rawlins Sub extends to the east and the Evanston Sub to the west, covering this territory originally laid in the late 1860s as the first transcontinental railroad.

Today's action includes the multitude of trains stopping to change crews, while the westbound "Salad Shooter" works in between mainline trains to setout a bad-ordered car in the yard. It's a fast-paced two hours, as on this conveyor belt of a railroad, mainline trains better not stick around for long!

You did yourself a real disservice by not going to Casper, you know.
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.
