Ep. 484: Canadian National U745 Escanaba River - Drone Video

01 Oct 2016 ESCANABA, MICH -- CN U745, with 45 iron ore empties from the Algoma Steelworks in Sault Ste Marie, Canada has just departed Gladstone, for their circuitous loop around Escanaba.

From the air, we capture them crossing the Escanaba River on the Manistique Sub main - they'll soon cross back over to the other side on the Marquette Range Sub. In fact, that flyover bridge at the beginning will soon be crossed by this very train!

This circuitous route for the CN in Escanaba is a result of owning both the former SOO Line and CNW mains, which of course weren't designed with single-road ownership in mind.

- CN 2037 [C40-8]
- CN 5648 [SD75I]
- 2 Boxcars [Setoff at Wells]
- 45 cars [Empty Ore Hoppers for Tilden]

- CN Manistique Sub, Escanaba, MI, Escanaba River Bridge, on 10-1-16 at 15:55 EDT

I wonder if those two box cars will be picked up by E&LS for their railcar repair service . E&LS in addition to rail car storage service also repairs (at least did) rail cars.

They've got cars stuffed basically everywhere around Escanaba. Not a slice of open track it seems of theirs.

It's not much different on their WI and west MI track. Storage cars all over their system.
