Ep. 378: CSX Stone Train D707 at the Chessie Cat Bridge

Chessie System and their iconic cat may have been retired with the Merger into CSX, but the "Chessie Cat" bridge in Grand Rapids, Michigan lives on. Built as a grade separation project to put Patterson under the then-Chessie rails, a themed girder bridge was erected - complete with a Chessie cat logo.

Today, the bridge, particularly its paint is beginning to show age in the form of chipped paint and rust, the bridge still hosts several freight trains each day. Here we see CSX D707, ordinary a local train, take a stone train west over the bridge.

D707 was chosen to take the Stone Train to GR instead of a K930 crew, who normally handles the task.

Consist:
- CSX 7775 [C40-8W]
- CSX 54 [CW44AC]
- 50 cars [Loaded stone gons]
Location/Time:
- CSX Plymouth Sub, Kentwood, MI, Patterson Avenue overpass, on 7-24-14 at 12:07 EDT
