Called for Q39911, at 02:00, with CSXT 8488 & 6297, with 33 loads, 16 empties, 4,400 feet, and 3,545 tons. We are on board, at 2:50, and depart at 3:10. At Middlebelt, we pass the D71510, with CSXT 6054, switching the new lumber yard, on the south side of the tracks. We arrive at Plymouth at 3:54.

As we are setting of a hot auto part car for Q290, in the east yard, we are passed by Q39210, at 4:00, with CSXT 601, UP 4449, HLCX 9027, CSXT 8712, 7739, & NS 5274, with 46 cars. We head into the North yard to set off the rest of our cars.

We set off 11 loads, 0 empties, for 995 tons, and 916 feet.

As we head back to the east yard, we pass the Y32010, on the Q32610, heading across the diamond, with RLCX 8503 & KCS 639, and 90 cars, at 5:00. When we arrive at the east yard, first we have to move the locomotives, that they use to air test, and keep the air on the tracks we have to pick up. So we set out moving the 27??, and 440?, and moving them to a clear track, and also leaving the 6279. We pick up 10 loads, 24 empties, for 1916 tons, and 2275 feet.

As we were calling the AX to come back to the east yard, from the north yard, I heard him talking to some one south that they hit a car, and it wasn't his area, but he would tell BX.

We stop at Wayne, at 7:25, to see a NS switch job, switching with NS 6614, and UP 9225.

Then at 7:45, we see the 260, with NS 2549, and 94 Roadrailers.
Image

Depart at 7:48. As we pass TDSI in New Boston, I see that the 1314, is back, (I had been told, by people working there, that it was gone for good), and is now painted in the TDSI paint, although no logos or numbers.

Image

At Carleton we stop, at 8:20. And at 8:24, we are passed by the S29111, with CSXT 7359 & UP 3948, with 74 auto racks.
Image

We depart at 8:50, and by listening to the radio, can tell we are not going verry far.
Image

We stop at South Stoney Creek Rd., and wait at 9:06. As we are pulling up to a stop, I hear that everyone is starting to move, (it was Q321 that got the car, at Otter Creek Rd.). You have Q321, a G194, Q334, and a E441, then us. As Q321, passes Q272 at Erie, we hear that Q321 is in emergency again. Seems that something off of Q272's train has hit Q321 and put them into emergency (I find out later, that something off of Q272, hit the air reservoir of on of the locos on Q321, and ripped a air line off, although the crew, did not notice this for quite some time, as they were a key train, and had to walk the train, also thinking that it was something else, and after walking the train only started to discover the problem, then a shop truck had to be called out to patch it).

So at 9:56, the Q27209, comes past with the BNSF 7705 & 5405, with 10 platforms, 9 containers, 25 auto racks, and 64 mixed. By this time the G194 died, and at 10:00 they had been re crewed, and we headed south, at Monroe, at 10:12, we are passed by the Q32211, with CSXT 747, and 77 cars. We stop at Dunbar, at 10:24. We see Q33511, at 10:28, with CEFX 3133 & HLCX 7168, with 39 cars. We depart, at 11:08.

The dispatcher gets Q321 south of Erie, and crosses G194, over to 2 track, then tries to get Q33411, behind Q321 on 1 track, as they are about to die. Then he runs the E441, and us around them at Erie.

At 11:45, we pass the Q33411, at 127, with CSXT 8044 & HLCX 7180, with 84 cars. Then at Sterns Rd., we pass the Q32111, as the shop truck is pulling away, with HLCX 6216, CSXT 8029, 8415, & 7695, with 151 cars. At Seaman St., we pass the Y11111, with CSXT 8421 and 39 cars, at 12:32. We stop at Pickel Rd., behind the E441, who has now gone dead, at 12:45.

We are passed by the K90511, with FURX 7937 & NS 6103, with 41 cars, at 13:00. Then next by the G85507, with CSXT 7848, and 65 cars, at 13:24. We depart at 13:26, and at Vickers pass the Q30411, with CEFX 1010 & HLCX 6236, with 38 cars, at 13:40. At WR tower we pass a yard job turning locos, CSXT 7745 & 7321, at 13:44, and die at the witch way switch on the runner in Stanley yard.

Hey Matt
Great photos and notes as usual. Thanks for sharing. I think it's neat to see your photos from around Wayne, especially on the North Side of the diamond. I've taken some good photos from Annapolis St. (just south of the diamond), but there's no way anyone could get to where you can be without some serious line crossing, which I won't do! I'll bet that signal on the left for the main was the one which used to be to the right of the main track before the running track was added across the CR diamonds in the mid-late 80s, as it looks like the same one which was there in a photo I have from the 60s. Interesting how the new signals for the running track have the smaller lense backings a la Conrail style. Wayne is a neat place and I look forward to more time there this summer.

PS, what commodity does K598 carry, coke loads? And which new lumber yard are you referring to where you saw D715/CSXT 6054? Where is that exactly? Excellent post again!

K598 is steel loads for wayne industries, but that is not what I had. I caught myself doing that earler, and thought I had fixed it. I was actually on K385. Coke loads for Zug Island. Oh well. The lumber place, is right next to the former Home Depot transfer place. They rebuilt a track that used to go into there (the new place) this winter.

For your run on K38508, did you pick up your train in Walbridge, or is this one that died somewhere on the line? Seems fast for a run to Detroit...maybe faster than what i normally read since you don't have any pickups/setoffs on a train like that. 5 hours seems like a decent run...had to stay in the hotel for the rest of those hours till 3/11?

Fastest run to date, was on Q290, during shut down. One C40-8, and one auto part car. Nothing but Green the whole way, and never passed a train. In fact BX called me and told me he would have me line up at Alexis, befoer I was trough Monroe. Dident even stop at vickers. We were even late getting out the door, because I had to convince the conductor that was it no other stops. So how long you ask? 3:10.

Yes Zack off the main at Crandel Rd., no pick up or anything,
