The honeymoon

Postby alittlevanwerty on Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:26 am

Well my wife wouldn't let me go out of my way to railfan but I did manage to be in the right place at the right time to catch 2 trains.

The first was a Delaware-Lackawanna pulled by an Alco RS3, was amazed to see this coming. We were in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation area on the New Jersey side taking pictures and I heard it chugging round the mountain.

Nice location to video a train with the river in front and a clear shot across to the tracks. They had a lot of 89' flat cars. I wonder if those came out of storage or if they have customer that receives them :?

Looks like a good honeymoon to me. Is it more or does that alco look out of place pulling modern day plastics hopppers and 89' flats! Long live the ALCOS!

I was surprised the shortline Delaware Lackawanna works out of the yard at Steamtown. Unfortunately we were inside the roundhouse when the Alcos were switching or there would be video also. I have a few clips of the EMD and pics to add as time allows.
