maybe this is one of the crossings with just crossbucks..along with no reflective tape on the car? said it was just after midnight... but still, use your eyes and look for things in the road!

Don't think so
If they had their lights on then the wheel flanges should have been refecting their brights or low beams like a mirror. Don't know how you could not see mirrors rolling across the road.
