Derailment in Bay City

Unread post by patrick »

I am under the understanding that there was a small derailment in Bay City today near the LSRC yard. I do not know anything further at this time but I will check it out later and will see what I can find out.

Confirmed...Lake State Railwayhas indeed derailed stone hoppers at the wilder road crossing of their North yard. LSRC 5927 and at least one other hopper sit stretched along Straits wood treating company and it and at least one other car are sitting upright off the rails. It appears that they derailed coming out of the yard and after an attempt to rerail the car, they were dragged across the road and left for the night. There is a huge pile of oak that the company uses to railcar cars sitting by the crossing but you can see were the cars have been dragged bumping down the ties. The string sitting there is about 15-20 cars long but like I said only 2 or 3 cars are actually off the rail.
