GRE 3839 Pics

Unread post by RailCanon »

On halloween I went with my dad to Ensle Yard in Lansing to get Pictures of Grand Rapids Eastern 3839. If someone tells me how to post pictures, I will Display them here.

BTW, tell me how you like my Signature. For the Record, Yes I am a fan of Super Power Steam, I have been a fan of Super Power and Lima Locomotive Works since I found out about 1225.

About 7 years ago while staying at the Holiday Inn (was that back then) on Ann Street next to the bridge across the Grand River and eating at their restaurant a GRE engine went across the river (didn't know it was GRE at the time). Would that have been the 3839? Is that the only engine they ever had?

Looking at the GRE map from RailAmerica does GRE still go to Marne? Just curios.

Since is it owned by RailAmerica, it certainly could have had other engines. I have heard of the mid michigan engine being here before, along with the michigan shore engine coming this way as well.
The GRE actually does go to Marne occassionally. Don Simon put together a good operating schedule, linked Here.

hope this helps! more operating information can be found Here.

Thanks, all I remember is that it was red and white with flashing ditch lights, I think. I found the MS 73 crossing the bridge on your web site, the pictures from the discontinued Muskegon RR Crossing site. BTW Muskegon RR Crossing was the first site I ever sent pictures to.

Hi guys! First of all I'd like to say great board! I've enjoyed B1G a lot.

So, GRE has a GP9? That's cool to know, I've only seen their GP38 (?). I live about 1 mile away from GRE's main through Ada. I here them delivering to Amway every night.

Does anyone know what time GRE typically passes through Ada? I go to the tracks a lot with my camera but never see any trains.

welcome to the board. ive only been through ada once, really to take pics of the wooden covered bridge there. happened to see GRE heading back west towards GR through there around 2pm. They run weekdays, one trip east in the morning, back west in the early afternoon.
