Thanks for allowing me to join this Great Railfan Site.
Trowbridge was my favorite stop during my stay at Michign State. All of my pictures are on 35MM or smaller slides. I have scanned some of them into my computer. While this picture is rather low quality, it is an interesting image from the past.
Visited Trowbridge two years ago on a trip to Indianapolis.
Did the motel across the street on Trowbridge Road, near the Spartan Shopping Center, change it's appearance ????

Welcome flafiretwo. I'm a big GTW and CN fan, but cannot claim to have spent much time at Trowbridge. I grew up right near the Holly Sub in Royal Oak. Everyday I learn something here. If someone here does not have your answer to a train related question, there is a better than even money chance someone can direct you to the source. Gregg is an authority on the Lansing area and is always willing to give advice.

Thanks for the welcome
Appreciate the info about the changes to buildings around Trowbridge.
The Motel and shopping center have changed. In 1964, I couldn't grab a few shots at the tower...go across the street for some fast food...and get back to the tracks without missing anything.
Thanks for welcoming me. Larry

MSU Pictures
JT,
The only view of 1225 was scanned in with 5 other B&W pictures. I'll post the scan @ Misc. Guest. If you save the 6 picture group, you could crop them or, if that does not work, I'll scan them again and post as individual pictures.
Yes, The GTW F in the avatar was taken at MSU with my old Minolta SLR as a 35MM slide......which has been scanned and survives after 40 years. Guess I should post that also....! Have been discussing this situation with Gregg P. He has been very helpful and advised that my old "classic" pictures would be appropriate for posting.
I'll start to scan more of both the B&W prints and the Color 35MM slides and post the best. I don't understand how to post related shots together in an album, so they will just show up at Misc. Guest.
Thanks, Larry

I've always liked the original green and yello colors and paint scheme of the GTW F3's.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Hello Pat C.
This is too much information, but YOU ASKED.
I graduated from High School in Maryland... For about six years my home was in Royal Oak,MI...off Woodward Ave. Spent hours at the GTW tracks near the Birmingham Station. My first year of High School was at Kimball High. The Kimball Marching Band,( I played trumpet) attended "Band Day at MSU. From that visit, I knew that MSU had great opportunities for a railfan. So, when it was time to apply for college, the application was sent to MSU. When I arrived for freshman year, the dorm assignment was Wonders Hall. Couldn't have been much closer to Trowbridge !!!!!
After enjoying the terrific pictures on this site, I applied to participate. Gregg P. was kind enough to look at two of the scans of my 40 year old slides. He stated that these "classics" were worth uploading. Now I plan to review the collection and post the best. The quality is not great, but some are interesting.
Thanks for listening,
Larry

Trowbridge Inn
The photos are great. ![Smile :)](http://railroadfan.com/phpbb/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
There have been a number of changes to the "Trowbridge Inn" over the last 10-15 years.
Originally all the rooms had doors that led to outside sidewalk or balcony, and there was an outdoor pool in front of the office area between two wings of the main structure. At some point in the late 90's? they built a two story atruim to enclose the pool, which enlarged the lobby, and resulted in the South facing rooms having inside doors.
As was posted above, the facility had a fire, and as part of the recent remodling/rebranding the rear building was demolished.
