GLC Boardman yard siding

Looks like the south switch is being removed and possibly moved north of 17th Street (for the run around track). Several trucks there now, including a boom/crane truck.

Do you mean they are moving it north of 16th street? Looking at the map it seems to be even with 17th street as currently configured.

Update- they might be removing the entire runaround track. At least 1/3 of it is removed as of tonight, with a ton of rail piled near the main. Ties and ballast still in place. Very odd as they literally replaced many of those ties and ballasted that track just a couple years ago. Boom truck and other equipment still parked at where they left off today.

At the depot. A much, much shorter runaround track.

Looking for an update---are they removing the runaround, or moving a switch, or something else?

Moving the south switch north, making the runaround track about half the former length.

Well, that would seem to make sense, since there would be very few cars to run around . They have the short run around at the station, plus-- if it is still useable,-- the one at the end-of- track by Williamsburg Road. Too bad they couldn't get a customer or 2 more in that area.

It's dumb luck that even rail exists still in Traverse City. If the NIMBYS had their way rail up that way would've been gone years ago.
