April 30th Durand report(and some other stuff)

Unread post by Railnut »

Well, Patrick and myself got together friday, april 29th to do some Saginaw-Bay City fanning.
After lunch at the Sandusky Burper King(an Ill advised choice) we wnt to the Birch Run area, and chased the CSX Sag sub up to Saginaw, with a stop at the yard..viewing all sides..and catching 2 RCPGH's(9163 and 9134), 2 GP38-2's(2517 and 2642), and a road train, with an ex LMS C40-8W# 7919 and HLCX 8143(exBNSF), an SD40-2(phase 3).
We then caught a local between Saginaw and Bay City, with CSX GP38-2# 2683.
We were running around Bay City when i got sick to my stomache, a product of food poisioning from Burger King...hmmmm.
After we relaxed at his place, and watched some videos, the HESR finaly came up from Durand, around midnight, with HESR C30-7's 5086 and 5175.
Soon after, the Lake State came in to interchange...but I cannot find the numbers of the loco's.
After some sleep, Patrick, his mom, and myself departed for Durand, getting there around 7:30am(I belive). After some hello's and brief conversations, We had a westbound CN freight come off the Holly sub, and onto the Flint sub, torwards Chicago..with Cn SD75I#5794, CN SD70I# 5623, and GTW GP9R# 4625.
It was soon repeated by an eastbound CN fright off the holly sub, also onto the Flint Sub, bound for Flint. It had 2 GTW(exKCS) SD40-3's, 3 5948 and 5955, IC SD40-2# 6030, and GTW GP9R# 4613.
And after an hour, we had a south(eastbound) Cn, lead by a BNSF C44-9W(?)# 1037, east off the Flint sub, and onto the Holly Sub.
After a short lul(as everyone showed up), a westbound CN came through(the first that didn't use the holly sub), with CN C44-9W# 2575, Cn SD40-2LW# 5375, and UP SD70Ace(in primer)# 8373(?).
We later saw a westbound CN freight, off the Holly Sub onto the Flint sub, withBNSF SD70Mac's# 9581(still in full BN lettering), and 9426, with the 1037 again!
A eastbound Cn freight pulled pass the depot on the Flint sub with Cn C44-9W's 2538& 2658...repeated by a westbound Cn with 2 more C44-9W's(CN), this time the 2676 and 2633.
We later had a westbound intermodal come off the Holly Sub, onto the Flint Sub, with a single Up SD70Ace# 3831.
We then had the 534(Cp runthrough) come by the depot, with CP GE's 9579& 9509.
We then had 2 IC SD40-2's come by(off the flint sub and onto the Holly Sub)#'s 6111 & 6105.
The last Cn freight I saw IN Durand was a westbound CN, lead by CN C44-9W# 2641, CN SD40-3# 6911(WC?) and CN C44-9W# 2651 and Cn SD50F# 5406.
We(with out pat) cought the HESR by the bank on the north side of Durand(Pat and others caught it at the depot), lead by HESR B30-7# 5492, HESR GP40-2LW# 9712, and C30-7's 5086 and 5175.
I later caught a westbound CN at Attica, lead by CN SD75I# 5699, and HLCX AC4400CW(?)#3170.
ANd in Imlay City, we cought the 500 switching town with GTW GP38-2# 4902.
Thus ended the trip..I had fun(other than the food poisioning)..hope to see you all at Durand(or where ever the meeting is held) next time!!!!

I hate Burger King. I got sick from them once too, and their food blows. :P Their chicken is the only good part about them.

Good trip report. Kinda late for a report, but still good.

Yeah..others on another forum had a report..so I kept to myself..yet patrick asked me saturday to post it hear. Some of my notes might not be 100% accurate..more like 95%(engine numbers..types..etc)....
