Later this year, 300 employees will be losing their jobs and the tin mill and hot strip will be shut down

AK Steel is NOT shutting down the hot end. Blast furnace and steel furnace will still operate and slabs will still be cast. Unfortunally all of the slabs will now go by rail to Middletown, Ohio to be rolled.
The hot strip mill, anealing and tempering lines to go down. There is no tin mill at Dearborn Works. At Middletown they can roll more steel than they can produce

Yes the slabs will go by CSXT to Middletown as they have been doing for several years just that now there will be more of them. The Ohio & Erie canal is long out of service.
