Chessie Engine House/PM Car Shops in Wyoming to be torn down

Unread post by kd_1014 »

Per the words of a CSX employee, the engine house in front of Judd St. at CSX's Wyoming Yard is soon to be torn down due to asbestos and them not needing it anymore. Also, the PM car shops in the back of the yard are gonna be torn down. There is no set date for them to get torn down but the CSX employee said they will be soon. Get your pics!

Edit: Please correct me if I'm wrong on who built the shops and engine house... :D

The Pere Marquette built the back shop (as well as most of the building that are already torn down) at Wyoming when they moved their facilites from Ionia back around WW1. The diesel house was built by the PM just prior to the C&O take over in 1947.

My sources say no such thing is happening, so I'm curious as to why someone would tell you that. MOW currently occupies those structures.
