Amtrak Expands Tulip Time Service
Amtrak and the Michigan Department of Transportation will offer additional service between Chicago and Holland for Holland’s 90th annual Tulip Time Festival.

HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) -- Amtrak and the Michigan Department of Transportation will offer additional service between Chicago and Holland for Holland’s 90th annual Tulip Time Festival.

These trips, set for May 4 and 11, 2019, on the daily Pere Marquette route, will enable same-day visits to what has been heralded as the nation’s “Best Flower Festival” and “America’s Best Small-Town Festival.”

More than 1,000 customers rode this Amtrak train route during last May's special service.

On Train 374 trips to Tulip Time will feature Holland Area Visitors Bureau officials, ready to provide accurate Holland information.

Train 374 departure times:

Chicago: 7:05 a.m Central
Hammond-Whiting, IN: 7:29 a.m. Central
St. Joseph, 10:01 a.m.
Bangor at 10:37 a.m.
Arrival in Holland is set for 11:28 a.m.

Train 375 departures:

Holland, 5:50 p.m.
Bangor at 6:33 p.m.
St. Joseph, 7:11 p.m.
Hammond-Whiting, 7:51 p.m.
Arrival to Chicago is set for 8:24 p.m.

Parking at the Amtrak Hammond-Whiting station is free.

Adult fares on the Amtrak Midwest trains on those Saturdays range from $26-$53 each way to and from Holland. Children ages 2-12 are half-fare with each adult.

The Pere Marquette also provides daily service from Chicago to Holland for travel during the nine-day festival; all Pere Marquette trains stop at Hammond-Whiting on May 4 and 5, and May 11 and 12.

Visitors Saturday, May 4, can experience Tulip City Tours; visit Windmill Island Gardens; see an artisan market; a quilt show; Dutch dance performances; take Tall Ship dockside tours; and shop in downtown Holland.

On Saturday, May 11, visitors will find much of the above, along with the Dutch Marktplaats; and the festival's grand finale parade, Muziekparade, the largest of the week.
