Just northeast of Battle Creek, appears there was a bridge over the Battle Creek River in the Pennfield area. About 1/4 mile northeast of the CN yard.

Yup, that would be the bridge just east of McAllister Road. The power and the most of the train made it safely across but one autorack did not. Fortunately it was pulled out.
As of this morning, it sounds like trains are moving again.

Gonna be an expensive, time-consuming fix. They may even just go ahead and replace it.

Curious to know if it sunk under the train or if the crew really went for a ride?

It appears that location comprises two parallel bridges, for one track to collapse and the other one still be usable. The route would've been out of service longer otherwise.

From the photos above it appears the bridge is made substantially of concrete, so a total replacement is probably required.

Most of that area is a swamp right now. The Battle Creek river among others has to drain more before they can get heavy equipment in there. Welcome to spring

Both spans are being replaced. One is just about done. When thats done, the other will be.
