Truck Hit by Amtrak - Three Oaks

Quite the picture. Sounds like the engineer is in the hospital, quite a bit of metal went right into that window. This is on the 110 MPH stretch of track. Supposedly the truck driver got “trapped” between the 2 gates...

He stopped his truck because he was trapped by the (pedestrian) gate on the other side?
Out-of-state company. I'm guessing he was lost in more ways than one.

How does a truck, or any vehicle for that matter, become "trapped" between crossing gates? So the driver thinks getting hit by a train is a better option than snapping a fragile crossing gate? Baffling.
