Minor Derailment in Vicksburg Causes Delays.

Unread post by Jochs »

The west side of the village of Vicksburg was blocked today when one car derailed on a CN train. The car remained upright. Looks like they'll take the rest of the train away and get the crossing back open. They don't expect the Monday Morning commute to be disrupted.

Not sure...media reports a train. Car was upright, it was not carrying hazardous materials, and would be no threat, just a nuisance to Vicksburg (and to the railroad.)

Pretty dark but looking closely at the photo shows a auto rack.

I believe it was a auto rack train that was very long. I over heard the conservation on the radio at the time that they were pulling up behind a westbound ahead of them that was at Schoolcraft waiting for a eastbound off the single track. The crew said they lost the air and was going to walk the train.

If it was loaded, does that mean all of the cars in the rack have to be scrapped?

NO! Just because a set of wheels went on the ground? It didn't tip over. No Big Deal as Katy Perry would say.
