Lake State Railway's 1st Santa Special:

The Santa train is at 4 mile rd while Santa and crew prepare their trip to Grayling:

At Grayling, kids and adults both greet Santa as the Santa Special arrives at depot:

Santa rides the 6304, a EMD SD40-2, into Grayling:

Besides Santa, a host of other characters ride along on the Santa Special:

Even a Minion was on board:

Lake State Railway did a top-notch job and hopefully will continue for years to come! :D

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Gee, I think the consist looks great. Would have liked to photograph it. AT least Lake State ran a nice little train. If you do not like it, do not chase/photograph it. Bet the childeren and Santa liked it.

This was the first year for them. Probably make some improvements next year. A night arrival, right after dinner time, with plenty of lights would be a nice improvement.

I saw that observation car in Gaylord about five years ago. No idea where they got it.

I was being facetious, Mr. B.

Hey, I've photographed worse. :-D

The dome car was bought for a railroad in Canada. Built in the 1950s by Budd for the Wabash for use on their Blue Bird train..

The streamline car was called the Venice and was purchase from a individual who stored it in Mount Pleasant.

The business car was from the Santa Fe and was bought by the Huron and Eastern who named it "The City of Vassar" It was bought by LSRC since it was being stored in their Saginaw roundhouse. Bluewater NRHS shop crews and contractors refurbished it to what it is today.
