CP Holiday Train

Looks like we might be able to catch it on the same date as last year, 11/30.

Looking forward to catching this Thursday. Trying to turn this Thread into a place for updates with status as it crosses into the USA.

I'm hoping to catch the holiday train on Thursday. After looking over the threads from the last couple of years, and adding 30 minutes due to the new schedule in Windsor, I'm guessing it will come through the tunnel around 8:30pm?

My tenative plan is to try and catch the train behind the old MC depot, around Delray, and then somewhere west of Oakwood yard (probably Allen Park or Romulus)

Does that seem feasible, and is there any road work to be aware of in the area?

8:30pm seems like a great guess to see it coming out of the tunnel, but who knows when it will show. I will be watching CP’s Facebook for updates and new this year (although, I’m not sure how accurate) CP claims to have a map with real-time tracking: http://cpholidaytrain.ca

Dan, I would plan more on 7:30 PM for emerging from the tunnel. It finishes the Windsor visit about 6:30. They move pretty quickly after that considering it is their railroad until they hit Conrail Shared Assets. Better safe than sorry.

Customs can be a pain and take some time. If you hate crowds avoid Allen Park and Delray and the roads will be packed. Out near the airport is a little better.

Safe to assume Romulus will be packed, I'm planning on catching them in Milan

Did some quick research, can anyone confirm, does the NS Detroit sub use 160.800mhz? I'd like to catch them West of Allen Park

It looks as if the Holiday Train tracker is down.
CP didn't pay enough money to fulfill their Google Maps API daily request quota.
This is very very bad. Everyone email them!!!

The website stays up long enough before crashing that I can see they're still at the border. At least I hope it is.

I just arrived at MC Depot. The CP police officer is telling people, it should be about an hour.

Train being X-Rayed at Walkerville Yard by US Customs. Possible crew change at College Ave before proceeding in the tunnel to America.

Because a train designed to bring Christmas cheer to thousands will be at the center of a mutli-national plot to disrupt the United States!

EVERY train gets scanned before it crosses the border. Besides, if they didn't scan the train, it probably would be used for some nefarious purpose of that nature.

Just west of the tunnel mouth in Detroit.
