Scanner silent for the last 3 days?

Unread post by J3rsdm5 »

I live on the more eastern parts of the Plymouth Sub. I went on vacation for a few weeks, came back just a few days ago, and my scanner has been silent since. It looks as if traffic has dramatically decreased. Anything I missed that could explain this?

There are a couple of possible explanations.

1. Your scanner could be out-of-order.
2. You just happened to be listening when there was no activity and you just missed it.
3. CSX changed operating frequencies without notice.
4. CSX employees are exercising "radio silence".
5. Traffic on the Plymouth Sub is, indeed, way, way down.

Frankly, my vote goes for choice # 5.... CSX in recent weeks has been tied up in knots and it don't look very promising for that to change any time soon.

There are currently no scheduled trains between Howell and Plymouth on the Plymouth sub. Best you can hope for at the moment is a grain train from Toledo or D708 making a run out to South Lyon to service Portec.

What scheduled trains are there west of Howell but east of Lansing?

I agree it has seemed dead. Had an increase for a while then all dead last few weeks. Something big went through around 10:10 pm tonight though in fowlerville. Didn't have my scanner on so not sure what it was

According to the update thread, it was likely X801.
