Michigan Southern Railroad

I haven't heard anything about the MSO in a while...
What locomotives are currently on the property? And how many customers do they have?
And is the old GTW caboose still in White Pigeon?

Unless someone else does it first I can post the customers later.

I heard they started loading sand at the old Gordon aggregate pit recently.

In White Pigeon at the junction there is a team track where they occasionally load logs. On the same track they'll periodically receive feed and fertilizer. White Pigeon Paper gets kaolin in tank cars. I don't know if they receive or ship paper by rail.

In Sturgis Penguin Plastics receives its pellets. Then on the ex-GR&I segment Frank Miller just moved and expanded its operation to the south end. They receive a few carloads of salt once a month or so. International Paper I believe remains the lines largest volume customer getting around 6 cars a week of paper. Then Abbot gets a few carloads of tank cars with edible oil every week.

Not that I'm aware of. Maybe someone else can confirm.

For anyone wondering google maps has been updated for the area on google earth. You can see the sand hoppers and the new spur in Sturgis.

I think 907 was on the old West Michigan. Maybe I have them backwards.

As of last week, the caboose was still there. The covered hopper transload had a decent number of cars, and there were sand hoppers. White Pigeon is still full of tank cars, so the cleaning may still be going on. The colorful shoving platform was outside their old enginehouse, with a locomotive outside the current enginehouse. Didn't note the number.
I save lives. What do you do?

Locomotives 907 & 1616 are the two on the property. Every customer mentioned is active except don't see the cottonseed cars anymore at the log loadout. Tank cars are all stored as they have been cleaned but that has dried up as of late. Sturgis historical commission had 907 and the brite red caboose at the depot dedication a month ago.
