Folkz, I'll be heading out to Grand Rapids area next Sun./Mon. (Jan. 21/22) and want to "Finally" catch C&IM SD20 #81! Where is it working nowadays? Can anyone help?

Broke in the shop. Hope it comes out this week.
OK, this engine will decide my trip to Grand Rapids!!!! My goal of the trip is to "Finally" capture C&IM SD20 #81!!!! Now, what is "Broke" on it? Is it an "Easy Fix" or not? It must be at the shop in Manistee! i995impalass, could you please let me know as soon as it is back on the road and where it is working? I will pay the gas to "Railfan Gary" to drive to wherever this unit may be!!!! It is the "Last" C&IM SD20 locomotive like this left operating (there are 4 from Port Inland RR® now at LTEX...but those are 'Patched')!
Out on the road last night. Daylight to CSX today.

It was one of five locos on Z151 in to Grand Rapids around 9:30 this morning. And back north at 6 mile road just after noon.
Well, the "Status" of this old C&IM SD20 engine these last four days seem promising!!!! Steamlogger, do you know if they will keep "Daylight" Z151 to Grand Rapids for a while? I sure hope to catch this loco in the daylight Sunday or Monday! Now, should I just check the line while I am out here both days? Am I correct this unit will be working somewhere in Daylight between Baldwin/Grand Rapids? Does anyone know where they will park this Sunday night? I hope to get "Night Shots" of it! I want my trip to be worth it! Well, I am guessing it will be in the middle of "Orange" locos!!!! I will have my scanner─and can look at this thread while we are "Seeking" (but won't be able to post)! Please help!!!!

Might also want to read the CSX train location updates and Michigan shortline updates.
FYI, just heard MQT Z15119 is at Turner St in Grand Rapids southbound at 1:19pm. Unknown what locomotives are on it.

CIM 81 was not on Z151 today. They had 3 Orange SD40s and the TP&W unit

Wow, I didn't know they had a "TP&W Unit!!!!" Which one is that? The roster on "Railfan Wiki" doesn't list anything in TP&W paint! This would be good to photograph!!!!
Now, Does anyone know where C&IM SD20 #81 was set out at? I shall "Seek" this rare unit!!!!

It's in the remains of it's Rail America scheme with TP&W initials. It's a GP40X, one of only 23 built and even fewer that received the HTB truck.

Hey, does anyone know the current "Status" of C&IM SD20 #81? Is it still in full C&IM paint/lettering? Is it still working for MQT? If so, where? Someone said that it went back to I&M. I never saw any reports of it leaving! Man I hope to see this "Rare" engine again!!!!

It left not long after they fixed it from when it put a rod through the side of the block.

OK, "Finally" I found out that it was sold! Man am I glad I got it while it still had "C&IM" lettering! It has been sold to Knoxville Locomotive Works® last Summer! They painted out all lettering!!!!! At least it still is "Green" (unless painted since)!!!! Here's a picture of
KLWX 81 last July in Betsy Layne KY. (photo © of Everett N Young):

Below is the "History" before C&IM 81:
It originally was built as SOU SD24 #6316, 5/7/1975 Location: Burnside, KY (photo © Robert Thomson):

Then it was ICG SD20 #2022 (8/27/1986 Centralia, IL © Alan Gaines):

Later it was IC SD20 #2022 (6/1/1990 Tolono, IL © Dave Ritter)

Lastly it became C&IM SD20 #81 sometime in the 1990s!!!! Here it is, along with #82, 5/26/2005, Springfield, IL (photo © Richard Vitchner):

Now SD20 #82 was sold to Cargill®! Here it is CRGX SD20 #609 (9/20/2017 Burlington, IA, © T G):

Has anyone seen the old C&IM 81 anywhere? The web sights I follow seem to have stopped following it.

CIM81 tracker, finally official answers!!!!
OK, I see the
"Railfan Wiki" MQT page now explains what happened to ex
C&IM SD20 #81!!!! It is long gone and no longer
C&IM "Green!!!!" This means there are no longer any ex
C&IM SD20s that are in their colors (except possibly former
Port Inland® ones at
LTEX)!!!! Because I didn't post on this thread since 12-2-2018, I didn't get any updated pix! This unit has been re-painted!
RRpicturearchives shows it now in Georgia in
Cargill® paint!!!! The earliest photo of it repainted on that site is November 19, 2018! Though that photo wasn't uploaded until 2022! The below photo is from April 27, 2019!!!! Man I wish the unit stayed on
Marquette Rail®! Though I am very happy to finally have captured this unit in
C&IM colors─the trip I went to catch it, January 21/22, 2018, was awful rainy weather! I will never get this engine again how I did!!!!
Oh well, I am sure there are
"Railfans" who have never seen it!
Next I will upload negative scans of when I got it in 2018!!!!!

I’m not sure that this is correct. The Cargil engine that you are showing from the page your are referencing says that the engine was originally #82. Last post I found #81, it was marked KLWX 81 in Tennessee. It was still painted C&IM, but the diamond was removed and KLWX.

Ok, after following up on a comment I just made. The guy is correct. CRGX 610 is formerly C&IM 81, my confusion to his comments was that a post above showed the same company had converted the C&IM 82 several years ago to CRGX 609. And that’s the number I searched. So they have two of former C&IM SD20s now and they are CRGX 609 & 610, with ironically the former numbers being 82 & 81. So I’m definitely happy to find this information. I do want to eventually take a picture of 610 myself, and I’ve never pictured any rail stuff ever.
