Marquette Rail Ludington

Unread post by cbtrower »

I will be going up to ludington this weekend and wondered if anyone knows when the Marquette rail runs up there? The only place I've seen them run is on the Mansitee swing bridge and would like to see them somewhere else.

I don't think they're running much, if at all, on the weekends anymore.

Lately Ive watched them run from Baldwin to Manistee and return to Baldwin with a train on saturdays. for some reason the trains on sunday out of Manistee usually go by my house around 4pm.

I doubt they will be running this weekend, since it is a holiday weekend.

Memorial and Labor Day weekends actuallynincrease the chances of Sat running in particular...wanna wipe the line of cars from the previous week, or else be stuck with an extra day's car hire.

They only get paid overtime on Monday, they will likely run on the weekend to avoid the excess wages on monday.

I only say this because I went up to Ludington last year at this time, and saw no activity (locomotive never moved) in the yard over the course of the weekend.
