CSX hit someone last night in Lake Odessa. Someone commenting on the story is claiming that the crew reported that she jumped in front of them in a suicide attempt. Unfortunately, that attempt was successful.
This only happened a few hours ago.

Re: Lake Odessa teen killed by CSX Train
This article here gives a little bit more information. Sounds like an incredibly sad situation, the details given really drive that home. Being from Lake Odessa and the small town nature of the area I just dread finding the identity of the young lady after the family is notified.

Always one of those bad feelings in your gut no matter how many times you hear about it... sorry to all involved. Not the correct way to solving problems, but unfortunately when in the mindset, seems like the amazing solution to everything.

Here is the young lady's obituary:
http://www.koopsfc.com/notices/Sarah-Shafer
If you want you can look at her profile on facebook. Eerily (or maybe telling with foreshadowing) the photo on her page is taken at the spot where her life ended.

It seems she went by 2 (maybe 3) names and considered one of her "personalities" to be a male. This was a very troubled individual.A very sad situation.

So young...my age actually...I can't imagine what must've been going through that conductors head when they saw what was left, if they were the ones to find it (apparently both the crew and responders had trouble locating the body). I also can't imagine what would've driven her to this...whatever it was, it must've been horrible.
Now I really understand why schools push Gryphon Place so hard...so when you feel like this, you can call for help instead of...well...ending it all.

Very sad. Teen suicides are increasing every year. I cannot imagine what the train crew is going through. Apparently it took a while to find the body.
