Twin Lake Questions

Unread post by MQT1223 »

How often do trains roll through Twin Lake? Girlfriend lives up here and it would be cool to catch something.

Also, would it benefit the G&W at all to connect two of their systems, the MS and MQT, between Fremont and White Cloud?

Since there is no traffic between MQT and MS, and both can only interchange with CSX, there is no benefit to connecting the MQT and MS based on traffic.

The only real benefit to connecting the two carriers would be in the event that the bridge in Grand Haven was condemned. Then in theory one could relay Fremont to White Cloud - no small task - and then make the MS a branch off the MQT.

And the chances of all of that falling into place are extremely remote, just like Lowell to Elmdale reconstruction. There's no reason to and it would prove difficult to find funds, and probably property for the Fremont to White Cloud section.

CSX activly persued such a thing for unit coal trains to BC Cobb. Never came to fruition though. Rather even any designs beyond a question and answer phase among officials is unknown.
Lots of things come and go, some even make it to paper...I saw the prints and expenditure requests for improvements for CP and a rebuild of Waverly yard but even after engineering nothing ever came of them.
Heck it took them 15 years just to put in a power switch and signals at Waverly for the west leg of the wye!
