Spring tie blitz this weekend - SMRS 3/11

Unread post by SousaKerry »

Southern Michigan Railroad Society is having their first spring tie blitz this Saturday. Curious about how SMRS keeps the trains rolling? Wanna help out? Want to watch people putting in ties the old fashioned way? Take pictures? Or just come and laugh at the out of shape fat guys(me) struggling to keep up with the young guys?

2 or 3 of our members have been working hard doing prep work the last few weeks for this event to help smooth things out and get more done. We are meeting at the Pallox property 301 Bartlett St. Clinton, Mi at 9:00 AM for the mandatory safety briefing. From there we will head to Deer Point to work from the crossing South towards Stiab curve.

So bring a shovel, steel toed boots, safety vest and a hard hat and have some fun. Or a at the very least meet the guys who keep things rolling on the SMRS.

The tie day has been postponed due to freezing weather. Things will still be going on this Saturday just not a lot of heavy outdoor work.
