QLine streetcar tagged with graffiti
Leonard N. Fleming , The Detroit News

Detroit — Police are investigating an overnight vandalism of one of the new QLine streetcars, which was tagged with large graffiti on its side, authorities said.

Police officials say a vandal got through the gated area where the streetcars are housed and sprayed graffiti on half of one of the cars sometime after midnight early Monday morning.

“We are waiting to get more information. At this time, we don’t have the image or the video yet,” police spokeswoman Kenyetta Hebron said.

M-1 Rail officials declined to comment and referred the issue to police.

The $140 million QLine project is scheduled to formally open in the spring. [...]
Geez, the vandals couldn't even wait for the line to open before they start vandalizing the cars!

Gee, they only "tagged" the streetcar? Give 'em a couple more weeks and someone will STEAL one! I am waiting to see how short the lifespan of the QLine is before somethngi gets stolen which shuts the line down. A mega-waste!

Why I avoid anything east of say...Howell??? Fowlerville??? at all costs. I'll let South Lyon into the mix occasionally but that's it!

Yes, it 'is' Detroit....but I never understand when people say this. Detroit is a big city....this kind of thing happens in all big cities.

The MTA subways in New York get tagged every day, and they get cleaned up immediately. You should google some photos from the 1970s of how bad it got - entire trains would go out and every car was covered with graffiti, inside and out. They eventually changed their policy toward equipment painting ("Every morning the paint crew would report for duty") and along with better fencing, and enforcement, trains in service are generally graffiti-free in NYC even though it still happens.
