Wishful thinking at it's best. Michigan does not have enough money to maintain infrastructure already in place (think roads) and some fools with an agenda want to blow half-a-bil on rail.

And, in the process, $100,000 got spent on this "objective, unbiased, well-thought-out, highly researched" study. I guess anyone can be bribed if you put enough money in front of their nose.

I will bet that the folks at MDOT that dumped $15+ MILLION into the old, beat-up METRA Gallery cars would be more than happy to pony up a few hundred million MORE Taxpayer Dollars on this pie-in-the-sky project, just so they can put those METRA cars to use and say that they were "visionaries."

WHEN WILL THIS WASTEFUL SPENDING EVER STOP? AT MY AGE, I DO NOT HAVE THAT MANY YEARS LEFT ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH. BUT, I WORRY ABOUT MY GRANDCHILDREN, GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, AND (SOON) GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN AND HOW THEY ARE GOING TO BE TAXED-TO-DEATH PAYING OFF ALL THIS WASTEFUL DEBT!

You can make a study support pretty much anything you want. First thing I do is look at who is funding the study.

Ummm, meanwhile, the state of Michigan is currently getting ready to hand over 500 million to the Detroit Public Schools, and the Flint debacle will be a drain for the next decade. But I suppose a high speed passenger train to Holland will relieve that highway gridlock of droves of people commuteing between Detroit and Holland. Oh wait! There isn't any.
