New CSX/GLC buisness

In the next couple of weeks look for unit pipe trains to start running from CSX to the GLC. They will run about once a week, until the fall.

I suspect since they're unit trains, they'll just be left in the pass by whatever K-symboled train CSX comes up with...and then lite power to wherever it might be needed...be it Webberville, Ensel, Grand Ledge or GR...

I read GLC was acquiring (at least trying too) some land in Mancelona for frac sand and pipe unloading so they could be closer to the work sites. This came from an interview with one of the Bagwell's in the AARRT&HA.

Chris Bagwell made a pitch for some of their business and felt confident they will get something. But don't bet your paycheck until you see the first railroad car delivered there.

That is no longer- Hillshire Brands just sold the Traverse City plant (along with several others) to Tyson Foods. I have a friend who is a traffic manager for Tyson. They only use rail in a couple very large plants.

Well there's a siding in Byron so I don't know why they wouldn't use that one...

Its going to Oak Grove just like where theyve unloaded the pipe before. Land is already setup and ready to accept flats.

Bob1, re-read the last line of my last quote above.....TC is NOT a large plant- they onyl receive inbound bulk goods at the very largest of their plants. Nothing shipped out.

A very long time ago someone (TC Bent or TC John or MIGN???) recorded the number of trucks bringing inbound ingredients (flour and sweetener) and it was somewhat impressive. In terms of railcars it would be around 10ish a week. I don't know if those numbers were accurate and if they were if they have changed over the years.
