Do they ever even exceed "restricted mode" speed going into Elkhart anyway?

I thought they only ran GP60's and SD40-2's on that portion of the line? Do they really need anything else?

They run GP-38s on the Battle Creek local, usually one is an Operation Lifesaver unit.

Yep, it has been #5337 (OLS unit) and #5334 for the last year or so.

Wouldn't be surprised that 4002 could be back before the end of the year.

I was inside the American Axle plant in Three Rivers yesterday and noticed a southbound with three units two Grand Elk SD40s and a NS GP38-2 unit number 5264 sitting in the siding at Cowling. A long train, The lead SD40 was facing long hood forward that looked unusual unless they cut away the leader that was on there.

Not unusual for the long hood to lead for them, the WSOR units have ditch lights on that end, the ex-MILW units do not.

Came into Elkhart with 12 cars today and the 4206 leading LHF. Did not see them leave.

Some Grand Elk power news. With 4002 back, 3534 is scheduled to be sent out next for repair. The unit doesn't make transition so is restricted to 10mph for crews. Hughgart is still repairing 7030 the GP7u to be brought back in service. The crews like how shes a puller and they are moving ahead to resurrect her. No units are scheduled to be repainted so the 3 WSOR units stay as is.

Saw this on Facebook earlier. Will be nice to keep tabs on train lengths and times.
New webcam confirmed by Virtual Railfan in a recent live stream on their Facebook page. The camera will be in Elkhart at the New York Central Railroad Museum.

This should benefit a lot of railfans who want to know when a train departs Elkhart to go south on the Marion Branch and east on the Chicago Line.

That is if the Elkhart cam will be free on youtube for viewing. Some of their cameras are only available via paid subscriptions.

It is currently free on YT right now. They are also planning on having a PTZ on the station but only have east and west cams.

GDLK has two empty centerbeams at L&W Supply in Grand Rapids. TTZX 864492 and TTZX 862431. Lots of product that look to have been recently unloaded from these centerbeams, so they've likely received a lot of cars lately.
