RBBB Train - it's that time again

Unread post by Saturnalia »

RBBB opens up at Van Andel on September 18...and that means the train will be on the way again. Anybody have details?

Probably going to go right by Loy Norrix while I'm in class....again. Only got a glimpse of it last year in Hugart so I hope it's a little later than it was last year so I'll see it run.

Where is it now? That might help you get an approximate answer.

Probably just over two weeks away from being anywhere near Kalamazoo?

What I meant was (using variables such as time of departure, crew changes, animal watering, etc) he might be able to make an educated guess as to when it might arrive in GR from its present location, which is why I was asking where it was (and which unit was the one going to GR.)

It's well over two weeks out! It could derail, burst into flames, or mothra might attack it between now and then. It's probably not even to the venue they play before GR at this point. If you can predict a trains departure and how it will do that far in advance you're going to make a ton of money in a railroads operating department.

That kind of speculation is best left to the day it's out running.

I was wrong. It is two complete jumps from the GR jump. Moline, IL today. Then Lexington, KY then Kansas City, MO.

Alright...I'm thinking September 15th or 16th when it arrives (unpacking, setup, etc).

I wonder why it doesn't go MO then KY? Seems like that's a fair amount of backtracking only to go back east a week or so later. Maybe I'm missing something? Can you elaborate CSX_CO?

Nope. Can't elaborate. I do plan for a circus, just not that circus.

Could be events already booked at the venues. That seems like a big one to me.

What time does it usually get around the Wayland area? Do they come north from Elkhart on the 16th or 17th? Would like to set up somewhere in Wyoming to catch this train.

Anybody out there to update?? Will it be coming up to GR on Tuesday? Would like to catch it around the Wayland area. So any updates when it leaves Elkhart or comes through Kazoo would be much appreciated.

With as jacked up as the BNSF is, don't be surprised if it runs behind schedule.

Knowing my luck it'll go by while I'm still in school...right next to the tracks.

Oh well....you win some you lose some. I take it RBBR will arrive in GR later tomorrow, maybe around 5-6ish?

If it doesn't get to Elkhart until 1300 it will be dark by the time it reaches GR (good news for you, it would be later afternoon for you).

I will start making reports in the "Heads up section RBBX Circus train."

viewtopic.php?f=20&t=30401&p=313039#p313039

I do know the power for this train is BNSF 7605/NS 9613. It Should be getting close to Streator Il. as of 22:30 my time now. BNSF crews will be stitching with NS crews to run up the Kankakee branch to CP-Porter on the Chicago line into Elkhart yard.

Setting at CP-502 Chicago line. Shows BNSF 7605 as leader. NS 31M is blocking it from running east to Elkhart yard
THANKS M. SHIREY
