Been hearing around the 18th, and via Milan. Buuuuutttttt, the scuttlebutt has a very different plan for the night of the 17th, which I cannot get confirmed.

This is what I got
YpsiAmtrakBoy wrote:Also heard yesterday that the NKP 765 is supposed to go via Toledo and then up the AA/GLC to train expo. Apperently there are possible plans for an overnight stay in Toledo (possibably MLK plaza) and then head up the Annie. Heard from a member of the Toledo national train day board, they want to make a mini fundraiser out of the overnight layover I guess, like a pay a couple bucks, get some food maybe, and see the locomotive.

Just relaying what I heard, so this technically is a "rumor" right now, but I believe this to be a possible routing rather then up the wabash to Milan like it has done in previous years. But we will have to see, sooner or later all of the scheduling will probably appear or be found out.
As for time and date that will be interesting.. From what I have seen they will run up in the afternoon or evening, or at least based on the photos and videos I have seen if some if the moves on the Annie

Steam Central reports that NKP 765 will be on the move from Ft Wayne on Tuesday. The have a nominal departure time of 9 AM and arrival at 5 PM. I'd take the day as true and the times with a lot of salt ;-)

Arrival to Owosso at 5pm? Daylight for the entire move would be nice.. Too bad it may be stormy all week (but weather reports are another thing to take with a grain of salt )

In 2009 it came thru Durand just before sunset. I'd say 5 is very conservative

In 2009, it came through Milan at dusk, which did not bode well for shooting at ISO 1600 with the D200. I've got shots of the engine and Ann Arbor 'helper' coming up from Toledo, which is an indication that it did not go through Butler. In less than a month, it will run from Detroit (more or less) to Fort Wayne in four hours, or at least that's what the schedule shows. 9 AM (10 AM ET) to 5 PM is plenty of time to run from Fort Wayne to Owosso, with time for beans, watering, and an Alemite Treatment in the schedule.

I totally get your point. Only diff to owosso is not a class 1 railway to run it on once u get on the aa. Someone on trainorders posted about it possibly overnighting in toledo. Anyone else heard that rumor? Either way, weather forecast calls for scattered storms tues and weds. Im hoping it makes howell after 6, i cant get outta work early

Yeah I heard the rumor of overnight in Toledo over a month ago in fact. I was talking to a Toledo train day board member (or he was something along those lines) and that was something he thought may happen but wasn't sure if it would or wouldn't at the time (this was early may before Toledo train day). He said that if it did they hoped to possibly make a night photo shoot fundraiser out of it like they did before trainday. I sent a couple emails and am waiting to hear back on if anything else has come of that or now. Still a rumor in my eyes, but the idea was at least floated at some point.

The Fort Wayne GPS site just updated their map... Showing a route from Fort Wayne to Milan to Owosso. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Steam Locomotive 765 @NickelPlate765

Heads up Toledo - if you're not doing anything tomorrow evening, a certain choo will be in town...Details later.
The "765" tweeted that an hour ago I guess, I found it on the tracking page as I am not a tweeter person, but the map does show up to Milan. So look for details later!

Why would that not be posted on the FWRHS Twitter and just the @765 Twitter?

Right from FWHRs Facebook page an hour ago......

"Holy Toledo! Come set your sights on the 765 tomorrow at Amtrak's Union Station in Toledo, Ohio. We'll be departing Fort Wayne and laying over at the station tomorrow through the evening. We're planning for the locomotive and a few passenger cars to be open to the public and available for visitation and photos. Featured will be some of the same cars for July's public excursions between Detroit and Fort Wayne! http://fortwaynerailroad.org/detroit-arrow. No schedules or estimates are available for tomorrow's move. Come see us after 5PM!"

Looks like I am gonna turn into a foamer tomorrow night....or hmm...should I just wait for it to pass by the house on Wednesday?.....Decisions.... Decisions

Forecast calls for three inches of foam; Severe foamstorm watch is in effect. Be on the lookout for trespassing foamers, unsafe driving conditions near the route due to speeding foamers, and a steady downpour of "where is it now?" posts.

Lance, what are you saying? :P At any rate, rain (yes it's supposed to storm) or shine, night shots with 765 without diesel and with some stainless passenger cars at night at Toledo Union Station? Yep, worth an hour drive after an 8 hour work day.

Definitely no pics from Pat C. He was too busy crapping his pants as he watched a B-17 fly over a steam engine.
