Heads up TC

Unread post by MIGN-Todd »

Today, saw the GLC's track gang in Traverse City clearing crossings with their truck plow. Plus, high-rail truck running around also. Two and two together means heavy metal in town. Have not heard if they're bringing "Jaws" up here but it would be great to see tomorrow (Friday).

I know- it's been a total crap sandwich. It's the first time that I've seen that much action without it producing a train. By the looks of the crossings and ROW, they'll have to use the big plow.

The plow train i chased from Petoskey today stopped on the south side of Kalkaska.

I am hoping that they will tie up at Walton tonight and head into TC tomorrow.

I heard them go south through Fife Lake at 730 last night. I was wondering why they were so late. Did you get to chase them in the daylight? Any pictures?

I had a meeting in Petoskey. Drove down by the transload afterwards and lo and behold two locomotives and the plow. It looked as though they were trying to re-rail a hopper as they had the drive way to the Salvation Army store blocked.

I had a conference call so I pulled onto a near by parking lot and got on the call. As I was sitting 398 and the plow headed south. I passed them somewhere on Elmira hill. I waited for them near Deadman's Hill road and chased them all the way to Kalkaska.

Most fun chase I have had in years. The plow was running 40+ most of the way. I got a couple of iPhone shots but they did not turn out well.
