Private passenger cars in Ann Arbor

Sorry that I don't have a photo but as the wife and I were going by the Amtrak depot this afternoon, we spotted two private passenger cars at the south end of the station platform. There were a couple of crew members in fancy duds hanging out on the car platform. The Wolverine was just leaving the station heading eastbound.

I remember reading about some special train service to/from Chicago to Ann Arbor recently (maybe mentioned here?) using private cars that were to be attached to the Wolverine. I'm assuming that these cars had just been dropped off? I looked around online for more information about that service but couldn't find anything.

Next Friday there is a privite car train leaving from AA at 4:00pm. I heard that B90 was out today, must have put them with the others or near there. What paint schemes were the cars?

I saw two NYC painted private cars on the Wolverine today.

I think dark green. We just happened to detour down Depot Street so I wasn't expecting to see anything and we had to get to an appt. in town. Otherwise, I would have looped back to get some photos.

I doubt any more cars will be brought there after taggers got them early this morning. The taggers got all 6 cars causing an estimated 60,000 dollars in damage.

That stinks. They have been there for about 2 weeks now.. I am going to shoot the amtraks passing them tonight.. Guess ill have some pics up later.

Those were probably the three worst, but each of the 6 cars that had been there last week had some form of tagging on them. Could not manage good shots of the two new cars, they say charter on them and are in NYC themed gray and darker gray..
Shot 352 passing them as well, Conductor said "that didn't take long from them to get those cars" Sad to see so much damage done by low life's that tag perfectly good passenger cars..

Yea, those are the Charter Wire company cars. And after what the taggers did to NYC 49, I am amazed it wasn't worse.... that just sucks. On the other hand they are stainless, so the paint removal shouldn't be catastrophic. Some Stainless Steel cleaner and elbow grease and they'll be looking good by Friday.

not sure, talked with him about the cars briefly then he took off after the train, and I took off to film them again at mp 35. I recognized him and his voice..

Can't believe the low lives.....I'll bet if it happens a second time they'll pick the cars up and move on out of Michigan someplace else, and an opportunity will be lost......

Did they tag the other side of the cars? Aren't there any security cameras on that side?

The other side had a few tags on it, not as many and not as much color



like 2 other spots like that.. looks like they might need a security officer over night or something now... or will just have to park/ go someplace else

Considering the incentive for this kind of vandalism is for it to be seen, I imagine those responsible would like nothing better than to see pictures of their handiwork posted on the internet.

I partially agree with you Ben, but having this on the web also allows anyone who recognizes the tags to have a chance to see them and maybe even ID the taggers. Probably wont happen but It could.

Also good to read that the cars will be cleaned up in time for the trips.
