Looks like a GE 25 Tonner. Doesn't have a coupler on the front end. It's always parked in the same spot when I drive by, so it either doesn't move or doesn't see much use, or they just park it in the same spot every day.

I notice a "pin" sticking out of the front pilot where the knuckle would normally be. Don't they lock the knuckle around pins like those to pull a car to the loader? I know it is pointless for this specific switcher since the front faces the bumper of the facility track and CSX sets off cars from behind.
Since we are on the subject of Padnos' switchers; how often do they use the centercab switcher at the Front Avenue facility?

That one sees frequent use, probably every day. I've only caught it moving a few times but it's always in different spots around their yard.Chrisracer8903 wrote:I notice a "pin" sticking out of the front pilot where the knuckle would normally be. The center cab in Lansing is used almost daily. Due to the terrain there it's often helped out with a push from one of the front end loaders.
Not associated with GLLX in anyway or MQT or G&W. I just have a thing for the 02. OH BOY!

From which street can you spot this unit? Been by there a million times and I never knew it existed.SD80MAC wrote:Looks like a GE 25 Tonner. Doesn't have a coupler on the front end. Easily, usually can be seen while driving down Front St. If you use the public roads that cross through their "yard" it can almost always be seen.

Hmmm...checking Alex's google maps link for a "Front St" in the vicinity of Ann St. and Turner. I don't see a street by the name.amtrak1007 wrote:Easily, usually can be seen while driving down Front St. If you use the public roads that cross through their "yard" it can almost always be seen.

I have seen the "Turner St. switcher from Nason St. a few times. Seems to be the "parking spot".

Front Street parallels the river, on the west bank. North of Wealthy, South of Fulton (no longer connects to Fulton). If tou're looking around Ann Street, you're over a mile too far North.

This isnt really in the area being discussed but what about this little blue Georgia Power switcher at Plant Hammond in Rome, GA? If anyone knows anything about it that would be great.
