Check out the wording in the petition- "only" 8 of this type of bridge were built. And with 62.5% of bridges like the Port Huron one remaining (including one in not-that-far-off-Saginaw), prolonging the fight is, as Brent put it, "is just silly". Not to mention, if they do manage to "save" it, where are they going to put it? There aren't too many places you can move a full-size railroad drawbridge for preservation purposes, especially not on this side of the state.
