What impact will this purchase have for railroads in Michigan. I'm sure we will see some changes in the paint schemes of the units, but will we see any operational changes?
Remember the rumor about the AA being purchased by RA a couple years ago. Would G&W be interested in grabbing this line as well and creating a larger regional railroad, possibly with trackage rights over the GLC?
What else could this mean for operations? Would the G&W go after the CSX line across Michigan, and use trackage rights to link different sets of tracks.
I could envision eventually a railroad which either operates or uses trackage rights from the Marquette Rail lines in the west, to AnnaPere and then using trackage rights goes south to Osmer where they own the for AA to Toledo, and using trackage rights access the Thumb area lines. Would they also go after the lines from Durand to Osmer as well and attempt to own the trackage to connect of thier trackage.
Something tells me we may see more moves after this transaction occurs.
