No rail service anymore the last load of auto parts came out of there in July of 2005.

Hello Paul and Don, I meant direct rail service right to the plant, Your right i think it's a mix of newsprint in and auto parts out of Central Whse, Because a couple years ago there was a big sign on the side of Central Whse that said Welcome TRW, Because if you see those GTW 60'Ft High Cubes there springs are compressed when HESR 702 heads south. That would be more traffic lost.

Still sucks to lose those jobs, I assume this was a pissing match between exec's at the 2 companies, none of whom had their own jobs on the line. It will have a noticeable effect on Saginaw. Very difficult to replace those kind of jobs, too.

I could be grasping at straws here but a Plastics manufacturer from Georgia has moved to a space that was once home to another plastics manufacturer on Parsons Road in Howell. Is this the place the article is referring too in Howell?

The place in the map looks like Pinckney Plastics. They were closed for around 9 months in 2013 but have been back in business since. They receive plastic pellets by rail. Maybe something changed recently that I'm not aware of...

Not sure what effect if any this will have on Michigan business, but LaFarge and Holcim are in merger talks, with both talking about selling some unspecified facilities pre-merger.

My guess is they would not divest the Alpena plant being so large and serving their laker fleet. They'd divest smaller area plants first. Just speculation

BASF Chemical company adding jobs in Wyandotte...Outside of the area automotive industry, this place is most recognized rail customer in the Detroit area among rail employees and railfans alike. So its pretty self explanatory.

France's Inergy Automotive, in Milan Michigan...formerly known as Visteon and Ford before that...It was sold I believe four years ago after Visteon looked to sell that unit off. It was a rail served customer for many years..What became of Milan Visteon..whoops..Intergy Plant? I never heard anything more after the sale except for some employee layoffs.

No, but Louis Padnos Iron & Metal has a rail-served location at 2001 Turner Ave NW in Grand Rapids, and served by CSXT, I believe.
