Sad Day in Ionia
The "Great Scrapping" has begun. They are currently in Ionia working WB toward M-66.
They were also hyrailin the Greenville Sub today so i'd expect everything to be getting ripped up shortly.

Sad day indeed, Ionia had so much rail history, that's progress for you I guess, 1 step forward, 3 back

Jukeman45, sure does seem like NAFTA doesn't it?! I think I'll go out and watch what few trains, are still rollin on CN/GTW!
Re: Sad Day in Ionia
I don't know how NAFTA can be blamed on companies making bad business decisions. It wasn't NAFTA that had the car invest in gas guzzlers just as gas prices rose was it?
The dispatcher is cool.
Re: Sad Day in Ionia
Just came from the Michigan Railroads website where it was mentions the Ionia track removal (under Historical), but no pictures. Has anyone taken any of the removal? Would like to see them if possible posted.
Thanks,

Wow that is sad. I am glad I got a few shots of Ionia not too long ago. Still the rails up there will be missed.

So sad. Thanks for the shots, guys. I'm glad I was able to get one with a train before the rails vanished....

GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.
