Vassar Railfanning Info

Unread post by TrainStuff13 »

I will be in Frankenmuth tomorrow and I am staying until Sunday. What trains, if any can I see in Vassar during that time? And when can I see them?

The only train I can think of is HESR 800. According to the wiki (which may be outdated), this train runs from Vassar to Saginaw Monday-Saturday. Hope that helps.

IIRC the Vassar Job covers a lot of ground some days going out to Brown City, Saginaw, Reese and perhaps even venturing onto the Sebewaing Sub at times. And they may not run every day especially when grain is slow.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Dont expect anything moving over the weekend.

The job that works Vassar (810) has been based in Reese. You can find the engines parked in town near the diamond.

The train for Monday's 800 job is parked at Towerline Road in Buena Vista. You can get a photograph of it with a telephoto lens in the afternoon.

Thanks for the info everyone! I actually saw one of those fire trucks today. I'm staying pretty close to heritage park.

Vassar is a spot to go to IF a train is coming.
Otherwise, during the week the 810 is either in Reese or Vassar switching.
With grain season on the very rapid approach, things are pretty dormant around that area during the weekends.
